Show 34 - Tuesday 30th November and repeat Saturday 4th December

This week we listen in on the afternoon rehearsal of the South Devon Choir with Organ and Soloists.  It was at All Saint's Church in Babbacombe, Torquay on the Saturday gone - 27th - I will be playing the final run throughs and some of the wonderful voices of the Soloists, who met for the first time on Saturday, some gorgeous solos with choir and some duets and trios.  As usual, I wish I had more time but I think I have chosen a good selection from the afternoons work.  Hope to have your company then

Show 33 - Tuesday 23rd and repeat Saturday 27th November

This week's show should be of interest - it is the first rehearsal of a  choir that comes together once a year, at the beginning of December for an Advent Carol Service at St' Matthews Church in Chelston.  For some of the singers it is the first time they have met and for others it is a reunion.  All, however, are singing the programme for the first time, they come from 5 or 6 churches from around Torbay.   It started at 7pm and as the first track progresses we hear people arriving and the choir filling out - the first peice Steven Royle worked on is actually the last song of the evening - the Lord Bless You and Keep You - by John Rutter, this arrangement is for three parts though and not the original 4 part score, it then went to Bach's "Break Forth oh Beauteous Heavenly Light" from the Christmas Oratorio for 4 voices, and more arrangements in 4 parts from Malcolm Archer and the last peice is the Matins Resonse which is the first item of the evening Next Sunday, which is sung in a dark church.  So not much time for them to learn, but as you will hear they make a very good first attempt at the music.

hope you can listen in, there is plenty of learning to follow.

Show 32 - Tuesday 16th and repeat Saturday 20th Nov...

As I said on the last show, Tuesday the 9th, I was going along that evening to Buckfastleigh to record the Community Concert at St. Luke's Church, the church was packed, some-one mentioned over 400 people, children lined the aisles and sides sitting cross legged on the floor and the parents and audience filled the seats and side rooms- standing room only.  The Lost Sound Chorus sang and so did Buckfastleigh Primary School Children and Modbury Primary School Choir.  Modbury has wan a cup for singing in the Saltash Festival in School Choir Class so the standard was high.  Anyway, I went and recorded it and that is what is going out this week, Lost Sound singing alone and with the Buckfastleigh Children, Buckfast Children singing alone and Modbury Primary School Choir singing alone - even some audience participation where Sandra Smith and Lost Sound teach the people to sing a ditty.  So lots to get through as usual, hope you can join us.

Show 31 - Tuesday 9th and repeat Saturday 13th November

This week we hear three tracks from the Torbay Gospel Singers to open the show - God gave His Children a Song, Happy Day and Get Ready.  Then, as promised last week, we hear last Tuesday evening's practice with the "Lost Sound Chorus" run by Sandra Smith.  We heard them earlier this year when they sang at the Quest Festival, at Newton Abbot Race course.  there is a good selection of tracks, including the warm ups, so we can get more of an insight this time and can hear the quality of their sound much better at St. Lukes Church, Buckfast than the rather distant accoustic of the open air marquee last time - well worth a listen!
hope you can join me.

there may not be a repeat this Saturday as the Unsane Rhapsody may be doing some live feed back - but it may be that it will repeat - depending on who is ready to broadcast at 2pm on Saturday.  All will be back to normal service next week if there should be no broadcast this Saturday.  the show is available to download anyway if you want to keep it.
